Very First Sockie

Guess what? Mom knitted her very first sockie ever! Yes, we know that she's made mini-Christmas stockings but this one is the real deal with a heel flap and a gusset and a toe!
And guess what else? It only took her 1 month to knit one sock!
Bajas and Virus's mom makes one sockie in 2 days! How the heck does she knit so fast and my mom is so slow? And here is something else that it took our mom forever to jump on the bandwagon with!
Crocs!
Is there anyone out there that doesn't own a pair of Crocs?
Yes we know! It's conservative khaki!
We voted for bright yellow or awesome orange or electric purple but mom chose khaki! Hey, at least our mom is finally movin' with the times! She says these are the most comfortable pair of clogs she has ever worn!
That's what everyone has been telling you, mom, forever and ever!

Check out the purse that mom has been carrying lately! She knits purses faster than she knits socks! Does this seem odd to you, or what?
We do have to tell you that the needle size is a whole lot different - socks are size 2 and purses are size 10 and the sock yarn is much thinner than thicker purse wool! This purse is called the B4 bag!The pin is an Airedale and she has her sunglasses on top of her fuzzhead and she's holding a twin popsicle and 2 ice cream cones!
Let me check and make sure you have enough money in here for 2 ice creams! One for me and one for Mitch!
Get your leash on, Mitch, we're going for ice cream!

We love the cone! Mom gets a cup of ice cream and they plop the cone upside down on the top and mom shares the cone with us!I got the last bite!

So until next time..................

Love ya lots,

Maggie and Mitch

  1. Well, Maggie, there IS one person out here that doesn't have a pair of Crocs. Our mom doesn't have any! It would probably take our mom a YEAR to knit a sock! She hasn't knitted in about 35 years! She hasn't even crocheted in about 10 years! We just looooove your mom's purse!

  2. The sockie looks great and our Mom wants to make a felted purse - after she gets that baby poncho finished - how long could it take to make a baby poncho - they are really tiny humans!!

But we like the ice cream better - that looks really yummers.

Our Mom tried a pair of Crocs and decided she was too old to wear them. They were so uncomfortable on her feet - she'll just stick to her Merrills.

    Have a great day.

  3. Hi Maggie & Mitch
That sock looks very warm. Your mom did a great job.

  4. There are no crocs here (yet).

It is odd that socks take your mom so long. Maybe she has really big feet.

  5. No crocs here either!

We love the knitted sock! The little man's mum crocheted a scarf last week that was meant for winter but the way our summer is going - she could be wearing it now! She's started on a crochet top now but its quite complicated so she was gettting a bit mad with the wool last night!

That ice-cream is making me want some - the ice-cream man has taken to driving down our road every day at 3.30pm with his music playing - the little man and me love it - we nearly always persuade his mom to let us out to buy some!

    lots of woofs

  7. Muzzer loves her crocs for workin in the garden. Hers are hot pink. But, the only reason they AREN"T khaki is because she bought them on sale in the kid's department, and that was the only color left. Hehehe...ads a bit of spark to an otherwise boring wardrobe.

  10. Hi Maggie and Mitch! We haven't seen too many crocs but we'll keep our eyes out for them. Most people around here wear flip flops. (Flip flops used to be called thongs, but now that means something else and old people get corrected if they say that - oh well.) That's a nice purse and sock, and it's always a pleasure to see you eating ice cream.

    See ya!

  17. Beautiful colors for the socks. Your Mom is so talented and the purse is great too. She must be very busy. Our mom doesn't have crocs either. She has thought about it but, she has been wearing her old Nike river sandals. Says they are comfortable. Isn't ice cream great - - M & D share theirs with us too. Sometimes we even sneak in a gobble rather than a lick.

  21. Those are very cool things your mom makes. I will have to raise a paw about the Crocs though, my mom doesn't own any and doesn't actually like them so I guess that makes her odd....but I already knew that :)

That is one cool bag your mom made though.....

  25. Maggsie & Mitch!

Your mama's not so behind the times as you think. My girl has no Crocs either. (She's not very stylel conscious, as you might remember from our visit.)

Your mama's purse is very cute. Is that pin modelled after you or what?

I just have to say that your parents really have their priorities straight - they make sure they have great food, and finish almost every meal with ice cream. Now, that's the way to live. (Do they have ice cream after breakfast too?)

I'm totally lobbying my girl to move to your barn. How long before your current tenant moves out?

    Goober love & smooches,

  28. Hi Maggie & Mitch
Our mum does not have a pair of crocs but thinks she will get a pair to try.
The first she had heard of them was when Marvin the Hollow Hound's Jeannie had them for her trip to Oz.
She has knitted socks in the past however and feels the work involved in the heel etc is what takes the time.
Well done to your mum - it looked a very good sock!
Of course she will require to cast on for the second - unless you know of anyone who only needs one sock?
We would like to have more ice cream - we have tried it and quite like it - not as much as the pizza right enough.
    love and kisses

we love the colors and the purse too. Mom's don't know how to crochet or knitt at all. Mama wears generic croc in pschedilic colors. She has anout 8 pairs. Just don't put em in the dryer!

  37. OOHH - D is jealous - she would love to knit - but all her attempts have ended horribly - generally with knitting needles being thrown and lots of swearing. She has bought a second hand knitting machine - she will probably attempt to throw that too...

We love ice cream too - you are one lucky pair of pooches...

  38. Hi Maggie and Mitch

Wow, what a brilliant sock. Our hooman couldn't knit a sock in a month, she would be challenged to knit one sock in a year!

As for owning a pair of crocs, that is something else she needs to try!!!!

  39. oh wow! Your Mama has been converted to Crocs! yay and double yay!

My Jeannie says the only problem she has with them is that she keeps tripping over her feet when she has them on. She actually has scuff marks on both toes of her crocs where she has done it so often.

Mind you she is always tripping up so it probably is nothing to do with the Crocs!

Lotsaluv from Marvin who is valiantly trying to catch up with the blogs! Btw I am much better, I have strained my left side it seems. I have some drugs which make me sleepy and Jeannie bought me a new duvet to sleep on for comfort. But no ice cream..........whats with that deal I ask youse?

You can pull them out.

  50. Your mom is pretty impressive. My mom knit a square once. She really would like to knit more than that, but can't quite wrap her head around how to learn instantly. No patience!

But she got crocs right away. She was quick on that one, but she got croc flip flips instead of clogs and ended up at the podiatrist. She says to tell your mom, beware of flip flips!!!

    You two are looking good!

  51. You know, Mom could line her new khaki crocs with 'Dale Fuzz, and make 'em super comfy. Or, if she gets really talented, she could knit liners for those crocs. Or, more conservatively (and lots more easily) she could consider furry lined crocs for winter and fall. That's what Moma wears all the time. And she LOVES LOVES LOVES them! (They are dirtier than us, though, and probably are smellier, too.)

    Enjoy your cones,
